The MIT Physics Research Fellows is a pilot program in the Physics Department to provide professional development in the preparation of research proposals to our undergraduate and graduate students and postdocs with a focus on the career development of women physicists.

The heart of the program is research grants with guidlines of $5k for undergraduate projects, $10k for graduate student projects, and $15k for postdoctoral projects. Funds are expected to be used for non-stipend expenses including equipment, materials, supplies,  computers, and travel for collaboration and scientific meetings. The proposals will be peer reviewed in the NSF-style with Prof. Lindley Winslow acting as the program manager.

The second round of proposals will be due January 25, 2019.

How to get involved?

• Attend the Proposal Writing Workshop  in September to learn about funding and proposal preparation in general.
• Volunteer to be on the review committee (~4 hours) to be scheduled around December 10th.
• Write a proposal.
